The long awaited decision of Jabari Parker has finally taken place. Chicago (Ill.) Simeon’s five-star forward has now decided to end his recruitment and announced on Thursday that he will be attending Duke.
At 6-foot-8 and a normal playing weight of 220 pounds, Parker is one of the most gifted players in all of high school basketball. Following a dominant sophomore year Parker vaulted to the top of the 2013 rankings, and has been a fixture right there since then.
His combination of size, skill, and intelligence made him one of the most heavily sought after recruits in the country. That recruiting battle eventually was highlighted by Florida, Michigan State, and Duke with the Blue Devils winning out in the end.
“I want to thank everybody that has been helping me,” said Parker on ESPN. “The fall of 2013 I will be attending Duke University.”
He continued, “I just chose Duke because it was the perfect fit for me. I just felt comfortable and it is perfect for me.”
This is a huge recruiting win for Duke as it vaults their class to No. 2 overall in the country. Parker joins Matt Jones and Semi Ojeleye as commitments in the class.
