Denver snowstorm blankets Coors Field in white

A freak snowstorm blanketed the Denver area late Sunday and early Monday morning, turning the Colorado Rockies' Coors Field into a sea of white not typically seen during baseball season.

Baseball in the snow? Say it ain't so.

Snow in May? At a baseball stadium? Say it ain't so, weather gods.

A somewhat late snowstorm hit the Denver area late Sunday and early Monday morning and promptly turned the Colorado Rockies' Coors Field into a sea of white typically reserved for the offseason months.

The good news? Temperatures are expected to reach 80 degrees by the weekend, so this scene will be most definitely short-lived.

And it was. The Rockies tweeted another picture of the field only hours later with the field looking pristine and snow-free.

The Rockies are on the road right now but return home Friday to host San Diego.
