Los Angeles Lakers guard-forward Nick Young is not in the emergency room, but after trying to defend elder statesman Kobe Bryant during an intra-squad scrimmage last Thursday, Young ended up in a gown for surgery to repair a torn radial collateral ligament in his right thumb.

Young, who signed a four-year, $21.5 million extension with the Lakers in July, will miss about eight weeks. Take a look at the pre-surgery image Young posted to his Instagram account.
