Almost immediately following FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal report that the Washington Nationals were in heavy pursuit of free-agent outfielder Yoenis Cespedes on Thursday, Mets fans took direct aim at the New York team’s owners.

Father-and-son duo Fred and Jeff Wilpon were lambasted by the scores of New York faithful tired of their team not spending big money.

Add in that Cespedes, who carried the Mets to the postseason last season, may sign with a division rival, and it made for the perfect Twitter storm.
