Khan withdraws appeal against loss to Peterson

The International Boxing Federation says Amir Khan has withdrawn his appeal against the decision to award Lamont Peterson a victory on points over the British fighter in their light welterweight title fight last month.

Khan lost his WBA and IBF belts to Peterson on Dec. 10 on a split decision after being docked two points for pushing, but was granted a rematch by the WBA last week.

The IBF was still scheduled to hold Khan's appeal hearing on Wednesday but the governing body's spokeswoman Jeanette Salazar said in a statement that ''the IBF received notice that Golden Boy Promotions withdrew their appeal of the Khan-Peterson bout.''

Khan's promoters said last week the rematch will be staged within 180 days.
