Groves out of title fight due to injury

LONDON (AP)

British challenger George Groves has pulled out of a super middleweight title bout against WBO champion Robert Stieglitz of Germany next month because of an undisclosed injury.

Groves said Monday in a statement that he was hurt while training in northern Cyprus ahead of the May 5 bout in Erfurt, Germany.

He says he ''soon realized I wouldn't be able to perform the training needed to prepare for this fight,'' but hopes the problem will ''cause only a short delay.''
