Don King gets sued again
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Lennox Lewis filed a suit against
promoter Don King on Thursday for an astounding $385 million. Lewis claimed
that King attempted to get Mike Tyson to back out of a deal that would put
Lewis up against Tyson in a heavyweight title rematch.
Lewis and his attorneys believe that King made a death threat and a bribe to a
pair of Tyson's friends in order to break up the fight.
The suit filed by the attorneys in a New York court claims that King cost
Lewis $10 million for keeping Tyson off a fight card in Los Angeles in June
and $25 million more by halting a deal for a potential rematch between the
The suit centers around agent Jeff Wald, who is both a friend and advisor to
Tyson, and Jackie Rowe, a female friend of the former heavyweight champion.
King allegedly requested that Rowe keep the troubled fighter in a New York
hotel room in an effort to stop him from signing a deal to fight as an
undercard to Lewis.
It has been speculated that the plot is all due to the fact that Tyson might
send King into bankruptcy with his impending $100 million lawsuit currently
lodged against the fast-talking promoter. Tyson is suing King for allegedly
stealing money from the fighter back when King was his promoter.
