PHOENIX –The Phoenix Suns have waived forward Ike Diogu and forward/center Solomon Jones, trimming their roster to 15.
Diogu averaged 5.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in three preseason games. The former Arizona State star has played 225 games in six seasons in the NBA with Golden State, Indiana, Portland, Sacramento, the Los Angeles Clippers and San Antonio, averaging 6.0 points and 3.1 assists.
Jones also appeared in three exhibition games, averaging 5.3 points and 4.3 rebounds. He has averaged 3.1 points and 2.4 rebounds in 268 games in six seasons with Atlanta, Indiana, the Clippers and New Orleans.
With Channing Frye expected to be placed on the inactive list, they must trim one more player to get down to the active roster limit of 13.
The current roster includes centers Marcin Gortat and Jermaine O’Neal; forwards Luis Scola, Michael Beasley, Markieff Morris, Wesley Johnson, P.J. Tucker, Luke Zeller and Frye; and guards Goran Dragic, Jared Dudley, Shannon Brown, Sebastian Telfair, Kendall Marshall and Diante Garrett.
