Pollock exits as precaution after groin tweak on HR

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock left Sunday's game as a precaution after he experience left groin tightness in the first inning.

Pollock homered off Giants' lefty Matt Moore to lead off the game at Scottsdale Stadium and did not make a play in the field before he was pulled. Manager Torey Lovullo relayed that Pollock said he felt something rounding the bases on the homer, as he twisted his body awkwardly trying to follow the flight of the ball and pick up the umpire for a signal as to whether the ball cleared the left-center-field fence or not.

"I don't think it's anything that's going to linger," Lovullo said after the 12-4 loss. "We just want to be safe at this point. ... With everything he's been through to get to this point, we didn't want to risk anything."

Pollock missed most of last spring with an elbow injury that ultimately needed surgery and caused him to miss the season's first five months. He returned for 12 games before a groin injury, also on the left side, in September ended his season.
