Nick Evans, Aaron Blair win minor-league recognition for May

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks  named Triple-A Reno infielder/outfielder Nick Evans and Double-A Mobile right-handed pitcher Aaron Blair the organization’s Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month for May.

Evans, 29, reached base via hit or walk in 22 of 28 games in May and hit .343 (36-for-105) with 11 doubles, 5 home runs, 31 RBI,.400 on-base percentage and .590 slugging percentage. He was Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for May 18-25 after hitting .452 (14 for 31) with 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 14 RBI in 7 games.

Blair, who turned 23 on May 26, went 3-1 with a 0.89 ERA in 40.2 IP and a .197 opponents average, with six walks and 33 strikeouts in six starts. He has not allowed an earned run in his last three games covering 20-2/3 innings.

Team players of the month were Evans (Reno), Brandon Drury (Mobile), Daniel Palka (Visalia), Marty Herum (Kane County) and Didimo Bracho (Extended Spring). Team pitchers of the month were Kevin Munson (Reno), Blair (Mobile), Nick Sarianides (Visalia), Markus Solbach (Kane County) and Tyler Bolton (Extended).
