Mercury to open playoffs at home on Friday, Aug. 22
Phoenix's first-round opponent still to be determined between San Antonio and Los Angeles.

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Mercury will begin their postseason quest for a third WNBA Championship on Friday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., at US Airways Center against either the San Antonio Stars or Los Angeles Sparks.
With the league's best record, the Mercury (27-5) have clinched home-court advantage throughout the three round of the playoffs. Their opening-round opponent will the the Western Conference's fourth seed. Third-place Los Angeles had a one-game lead over San Antonio heading into the final weekend of play, but San Antonio has the tie-breaker advantage over L.A.
Game 2 in the best-of-three series will be on the road on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m., and Game 3, if necessary, would be back at US Airways on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m.
Game 1 will air on tape delay on FOX Sports Arizona immediately after the Diamondbacks-Padres game on Friday (approximately 10 p.m.), and Game 3 will air live on FOX Sports Arizona Plus. Game 2 will be carried live by ESPN2.
