FOX’s NCAA football power rankings

1. Alabama Crimson Tide    8-0     —

Divisional showdown game against LSU on Saturday. QB A.J. McCarron remains, unbelievably, underrated.

2. Oregon Ducks    8-0     —

The Ducks go to Stanford on Thursday for the Pac-12 North showdown seeking 15 “explosive” plays against the excellent Cardinal defense.

3. Florida State Seminoles    8-0     —

Possibly the best team in the country; just ask previously seventh-ranked Miami. The Noles may see the Canes again in ACC title tilt.

4. Baylor Bears    7-0     —

True bona fides will be seen Thursday night on FOX Sports 1 when Baylor welcomes Oklahoma. Can the Sooners slow down the Bears?

5. Ohio State Buckeyes    9-0     —

This team has not lost since the 2011 season. The Buckeyes get better with each passing week and will be heavy favorites in each game left. Off this week.

6. Stanford Cardinal    7-1     —

Yes, Utah upset the Cardinal, but their goals remain intact if they can beat Oregon for the second straight year.

7. Oklahoma Sooners    7-1     +1

The Sooners are underdogs against Baylor? They are, and they relish it. FOX Sports 1 has the game of the year thus far in the Big 12 on Thursday night!

8. Clemson Tigers    8-1     +2

Looked more impressive this week in dismantling Virginia. Now a pause to refresh before the Tigers play Georgia Tech on Nov. 14.

9. Auburn Tigers    8-1     —

Head coach Gus Malzahn has done a masterful job turning the Tigers into SEC contenders in his first year, but they can’t look ahead to the Iron Bowl just yet. They’re at Tennessee this week and then have Georgia at home.

10. Missouri Tigers    8-1     +1

Those that were worried about a letdown after the OT loss to South Carolina can worry no more. Mizzou was impressive against Tennessee. At Kentucky this week.

11. Miami Hurricanes    7-1     -4

Hung tough, then were blitzed in the second half at Florida State. Could get another shot at FSU in ACC Championship game if the Hurricanes win out.

12. Oklahoma State Cowboys    7-1     +1

Best game of the year for the Cowboys at Texas Tech. QB Clint Chelf can throw and run. They are truly contenders for the Big 12 crown.

13. Texas A&M Aggies    7-2     +3

Too easy last week against UTEP. Mississippi State is next for the Aggies, who are still pushing for a BCS bowl berth.

14. South Carolina Gamecocks    7-2     +4

No tougher QB mentally and physically than the Gamecocks’ leader, Connor Shaw. SEC East title may still be available with some help. Off this week and then get Florida at home.

15. Michigan State Spartans    8-1     +11

Arguably the most impressive win of Week 10 belonged to the Spartans, who methodically destroyed of Michigan. Wow! Bye week and then at Nebraska.

16. LSU Tigers    7-2     +4

Can really put a crimp in Alabama’s national title hopes with a win in Tuscaloosa on Saturday. Tigers are eager for the challenge against the champs.

17. Wisconsin Badgers    6-2     +8

Had to play tough, hard-nosed football to beat Iowa last week, and that’s simply Badger football. Dangerous game against BYU on Saturday.

18. UCF Knights    6-1     -3

QB Blake Bortles has hit the national scene, and now comes a big national game for the Knights Saturday in the AAC against a hot Houston team.

19. UCLA Bruins    6-2     -2

QB Brett Hundley looked more like himself against Colorado. Now a HUGE game at Arizona this week. The loser is likely out of the Pac-12 South race.

20. Louisville Cardinals    7-1     -1

Let’s not forget the Cardinals have only one loss on the year. UConn will be the next win on Friday night.

21. Northern Illinois Huskies    9-0     —

Momentum continues to build for the Huskies to return to the BCS for a second straight year. QB Jordan Lynch is simply “The Man.” Off this week and then get Ball State in Week 12.

22. Arizona State Sun Devils    6-2     +2

Quietly, the Sun Devils are now the Pac-12 South favorites. They got an underrated win at Washington State last week and now go to Utah this Saturday.

23. Fresno State Bulldogs    8-0     -9

Not sure the Bulldogs truly deserve the drop they are receiving in this ranking. They keep winning and setting the pace in the Mountain West. At Wyoming this week.

24. Texas Tech Red Raiders    7-2     -12

Red Raiders have now lost two straight after a 7-0 start. A tough finish is ahead with Kansas State this week and then Baylor and Texas.

25. Notre Dame Fighting Irish    7-2     -2

At some point, the discussion to NOT schedule Navy will be held in South Bend. Their drive to a BCS berth continues this week at Pitt.
