FOX Sports Arizona
It's one of the biggest moments in American sports history, and Friday, it will be one of the biggest nights for FOX Sports Arizona's coverage of the Phoenix Coyotes.
The Coyotes will welcome and honor 10 members of the famous gold-medal-winning 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team to Jobing.com Arena for the sold-out game against the Blackhawks, and FOX Sports Arizona is set to cover this unforgettable night from all angles.
FOX Sports Arizona's coverage begins at 6 p.m. with a special one-hour edition of the "Coyotes Live" pre-game show from the network's set inside Jobing.com Arena. Fans are invited to stop by the set on the main concourse near sections 121/122 to see members of the team who will be guests on the show. Mike Eruzione and Steve Janaszak will be on the set with Todd Walsh, while interviews with Ken Morrow, Buzz Schneider and Rob McClanahan will be conducted by Matt McConnell and Jody Jackson at other locations around the arena.
The 10 players from the 1980 team -- as well as all the Coyotes and Blackhawks players who will be competing in the Winter Olympics at Sochi -- will all be honored in a special pre-game ceremony, which will be carried live by FOX Sports Arizona at 7 p.m. During our game coverage, Walsh will have intermission interviews with Neal Broten and Dave Silk, and Eruzione will join McConnell and Tyson Nash in the booth at the start of the second period.
The 10 players schedule to participate in the event are: Eruzione, Neal Broten, Steve Janaszak, McClanahan, Morrow, Schneider, Silk, Bob Suter, Phil Verchota and Mark Wells.
Viewers will also be able to hear from U.S. Senator John McCain, Dan Majerle, Jeff Hornacek, Dave Tippett, Don Maloney, Sean Burke and Dave King to get their memories of what they were doing when Team USA beat Russia and went on to win the gold two days later.
FOX Sports Arizona is also encouraging fans to Tweet @FOXSPORTSAZ their memories and photos from when Team USA won the gold in 1980 by using the hashtag #MiracleMemory. If you miss any of the interviews during the telecast, they will also be available on FOXSportsArizona.com.
