Coyotes routed by Ducks in preseason loss

Ducks score on first three shots of game against rookie Visentin, rout Coyotes 6-2.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Teemu Selanne and defensemen Sami Vatanen and Nolan Yonkman scored on Anaheim's first three shots against Phoenix rookie Mark Visentin, and the Ducks earned a 6-2 victory over the Coyotes on Monday night in their preseason opener.

Yonkman's short-handed goal came 2:59 in, and Daniel Winnik capped the Ducks' four-goal first period. Hampus Lindholm connected during a 5-on-3 power play in the second, Emerson Etem also had a goal and Andrew Cogliano had three assists.

Both starting goalies sat out the third period. Jonas Hiller stopped 12 of 13 shots for the Ducks. Visentin, one of two first-round picks by the Coyotes in the 2010 draft, made 18 saves.

Guillaume Latendresse and Chris Brown scored for Phoenix.
