‘Countdown: Green Flag’ premieres Feb. 5 on FOX Sports Arizona

PHOENIX — The latest episode in FOX Sports Arizona’s popular "Countdown" franchise debuts on Wednesday — and this time, the sport of NASCAR and Phoenix International Raceway is in the spotlight!

"Countdown: Green Flag" premieres on Feb. 5 at 5 and 9 p.m. and will take viewers behind the scenes in the hours leading up to the drop of the flag for last November’s AdvoCare 500 at PIR. Four camera crews followed four different individuals to show what they did in order to prepare for the rev of the engines and the start of the race.

FOX Sports Arizona was granted exclusive access with driver Ryan Newman, team owner Michael Waltrip, Phoenix International Raceway Director of Operations Lee Baumgarten and Vice President of Operation for JHE Production Group Matt Davis, who oversees race day entertainment at NASCAR events. The network’s four  production crews were with these four men and their staffs from the crack of dawn to the drop of the green flag to give fans an unprecedented look behind the scenes of one of NASCAR’s marquee events.
