TUCSON, Ariz. — DaVonte’ Neal will continue to go to practice
and work to make his teammates better. So it will be business as usual
for the sophomore, who transferred to Arizona from Notre Dame in the
Neal’s appeal to play this season has been denied by the
NCAA twice, and he is likely to sit out the season as a redshirt. His
appeal was based on his desire to be closer to his infant daughter and
Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez said a possible third
appeal could happen, but by Neal’s tone on Wednesday night after
practice he was all but resigned to working on the scout team to make
the first- and second-teamers better.
“I can still come out and
play football every day,” he said. “I get to do what I love every day.
Even if I don’t get to play on Saturdays, I still get to come out Monday
through Friday and play football.”
