D-backs to wear throwback jerseys for every Thursday home game

The vest jerseys with purple sleeves and teal trim were part of the Diamondbacks' ensemble for their first nine seasons (1998-2006).

PHOENIX — The Arizona Diamondbacks will pay tribute to the team’s history by wearing the alternate home vest uniform with purple sleeves and teal trim (worn from 1998-2006) at every Thursday home game throughout the 2015 season. Every Thursday home game will be deemed part of the D-backs Throwback Thursdays (#DbacksTBT), and fans can expect to see the retro purple and teal colors incorporated in every game element at Chase Field, including signage, video and photos on dbTV.

The team will celebrate its 20th birthday on Monday, March 9 with several surprise events around the Valley. The franchise was "born" on March 9, 1995, when Major League Baseball’s owners gathered in Palm Beach, Fla., to award Arizona and Tampa Bay with the 13th and 14th expansion teams in league history. The team name was announced that day as the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As part of Throwback Thursdays, fans who purchase a Thursday game ticket with their Chase credit or debit card will receive a free purple Throwback Thursdays t-shirt. More details are available at dbacks.com/throwback

For a limited time only beginning this Monday, a special t-shirt commemorating the D-backs 20th birthday will be available for sale at the mobile merchandise truck located on the Gila River Casinos Plaza at Chase Field.

This season’s Throwback Thursdays will be the sixth different worn by the Diamondbacks. They have also worn the 2001 alternate home jersey (2011), 1998-2002 alternate home purple jersey (2012), 1999-2000 alternate black jersey (2013), the 1914 Kansas City Packers jersey to celebrate Wrigley Field’s 100th anniversary (2014) and the 1999 home white uniform with the alternate white cap (2014).

Fans are encouraged to wear the throwback purple and teal colors on Throwback Thursdays. The Chase Field Team Shop will offer a wide variety of items featuring the retro colors for fans to purchase throughout the season.
