Mike Leach, Washington State's head football coach, talks with Matt this week about what has been a challenging first season as head coach. They discuss the idea of trying to change the losing culture; his players' low expectations of themselves; and why the future looks bright. Plus, he talks about his recent ban of Twitter, his impressions of the Pac-12 conference, and a thought on playing ASU this weekend.
Among his observations:
On changing the mind-set of his team: "Sometimes you have guys that have been here how ever many years and there's a certain way of life and point of view that they may not be willing to change, and so then I think the important thing is to work toward the future."
Impression of Pac-12 football: "Of the conferences in the country, it's the most diverse geographically and as far as coaching and style of play."
Thoughts on ASU football: "Real explosive. Their skilled guys are fast, quick and are an impressive group."
