The Diamondbacks have won three of their last five games, and they showed positive signs while taking two of three from the Dodgers over the weekend in their first home series win of the year. An 18-7 rout Saturday was followed by a 5-3 all-phases-in-place victory Sunday. The D-backs had 32 hits, including 15 for extra bases, in those two games, and the bullpen tag team -- Evan Marshall to Brad Ziegler to Addison Reed -- finished out Sunday's win.

A.J. more than OK
A.J. Pollock always plays a strong center field, and now there's more. He has been amnong the hottest hitters in the National League since returning from a groin strain two weeks ago. Pollock has 18 hits in his last 40 at-bats (.450) while hitting safely in 10 of the last 11 games. He has three doubles, two triples, two home runs and six stolen bases in that stretch. His ability to steal bases adds another dimension to the offense.

The Diamondbacks have played like themselves on the road since coming back from Sydney, Australia, and they will need to do it again on this trip. They are 12-10 away from home in the Northern hemisphere and have not lost a road series in their last four, splitting with the Cubs in the third week of April and taking two of three games in road series against the Padres, Brewers and White Sox on their last trip.

New chief baseball officer Tony La Russa will not return to the scene of his greatest successes when the D-backs open their road trip in St. Louis, as he does not want to cause a distraction. Maybe he should; the Diamondbacks could use a change in mojo. The D-backs have their lowest franchise winning percentage (.407) against the Cardinals and have not won a series in St. Louis since 2003. This would be a great time to start.
