3 things to watch: Michael Brantley's and Nick Swisher's conflicting trajectories
Outfielder Michael Brantley is due for some regression after finishing third in American League MVP voting last year. Then again, he's been on a steady upward arc of improvement, topped by last year's .327 average, 97 RBI and .385 on-base percentage. On the opposite end of the spectrum is potential bounceback candidate Nick Swisher, coming off career-worst numbers and offseason knee surgery. Newcomer Brandon Moss adds some punch to the everyday lineup, but it's the dueling trajectories of Brantley and Swisher that could most impact the Indians' fate.

3 things to watch: Complementary parts for Kluber
The Indians have a solid starting rotation led by Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber (18-9), but it's not without questions. Carlos Carrasco came on strong last season, but only after year's of frustrating results. Newcomer Gavin Floyd has dealt with Tommy John surgery and a broken elbow in the last two years. Trevor Bauer and Danny Salazar have wavered between outings of brilliance and exasperation, and Salazar was investigated by police in a sexual assault case this offseason (no charges were filed).

3 things to watch: Is Francisco Lindor ready?
Jose Ramirez took over at shortstop last year after the midseason trade of Asdrubal Cabrera to the Nationals. He played well and is only 22, but he's primarily regarded as a placeholder for Cleveland's 2011 first-round pick, Francisco Lindor. Lindor is the franchise's top-ranked prospect and will get a chance to claim the job this spring, though the presence of Ramirez means the Indians needn't rush him.
